Yesterday was Valentine’s day and my girlfriend an me spend 30 minutes on the phone. She lives in Germany and I live hear in Memphis so it is very tough to keep the contact. This is the biggest challenge in my life! I love this girl and she loves me, too, but a long distance relationship from on side of the world to the other is still not easy. I send her a card for Valentine’s day and so did she but both cards did not reach their place of destination. Her letter was to heavy so it was send back to her and I send my card to late so it did not reach her on time. These are the smaller problems that we have to face. But there are also good news. She will come in march and visit me for three weeks. I am already so excited about her coming to Memphis. I will show her the entire city, the university, graceland, the zoo etc. We will have so much fun. When we have been together in Germany it was normal for us that we saw us every day. Now we are happy if we can talk on the phone two or three times a week. What I want to say is that many people do not know how lucky they are and do not appreciate things anymore. I want you guys to think about other people when you start complaining about everything. Think about other people who are in so much worse positions than we are and than thank God that we have such a nice life!

Wow, I know that must be hard! The summer of my junior year I spent a month in London and Edinburgh and it was really hard to talk to my boyfriend. I would call him when I woke up and he would be getting ready to go to sleep. It was pretty crazy. That is really sweet that you send each other cards, though. It is also pretty cool that she is coming to visit in March! Is it for Spring Break?

Wow, I am impressed! I do not know if I could hold up that long. Long distance relationships are hard enough, so not being able to talk everyday must be very hard. I know I would not be able to not talk my boyfriend everyday! I am sure you are super excited about her coming and I hope yall have an amazing time!

I hope your girlfriend enjoys Memphis. It is hard to be so far away from those you care about. I just found out the Rachel, my daughter who is now in Berlin going to school already has a job teaching English in Bayruit in April when she finishes school. I am proud of her but now she will not be coming home until August when they come back for holiday. I really miss her but am happy she is creating a life . Looks like I will needing to learn some German.
