This morning I read in “The Daily helmsman” that Robert Dozier, forward of the Memphis tiger basketball team is two weeks suspended from playing basketball. On Sunday morning at 3:30 a.m., Dozier followed his ex-girlfriend downtown and slapped her two times in the face. Besides that it is a scandal that a man hits a woman and that Dozier should feel ashamed, he also jeopardized carelessly the success of his team. Furthermore, in general nobody should hit another person! If somebody has to hit another person to convey or to punish this person is weak and not really blessed with intelligence. Anyways, now that we are number one in the nation we need every player more than ever to stay on top and win the NCAA tournament. With his ruthless behaviour, Dozier also damaged immense the image of his team and the entire university. Dozier should be aware of the fact that he as a very successful student-athlete is a public figure and that he represents his team and The University of Memphis. As this public figure it should be clear for him that his actions, positive or negative, have consequences. He is not in the position to lapse like he did on the weekend without serious consequences. Next time before one of our athletes do something stupid which affects all other students they should think about their actions and what consequences they might have.

i usually don't read our schools newspaper, so i guess that would explain why i didn't know anything about this matter until i read your blog! thats so ridiculous. i can't believe he is suspended. more importantly i can't believe he did that! anyways, i hope we can still come out on top, considering we are missing one of our important players right now!!
That’s so terrible! I hate that kind of abuse, and I hate it for the people who have to be in that kind of relationship. I don’t think that he should be suspended because it wasn’t on campus, but some action should have been taken legally. People are so terrible to each other sometimes.
I just get sad about stuff like this when I hear about it. I mean, for every one case that is reported there are probably hundreds more that are not even reported at all. I do not know what kind if person thinks that it is okay to use physical or verbal violence towards anyone, let alone a man doing it to a woman. Even though we are all rooting for the Tigers, it is good that they did not give him special treatment just because he is a basketball player.
It is amazing the consequences of our actions; they can not only effect our lives, but of course the lives around us. This man probably was not thinking about how his actions would effect his life and the life of his family, team, and those that he is a rollmodel for. We can just hope and pray he learned from his mistake.
i totoally agree not only about the whole never strike another person thing but especially the women thing. furthermore ive experienced first hand what its like to let down a sports team and to be elt down by one and it totally sux. let alone if we were the number one team in the nation and shit like that went down good blog.
Thanks for so many comments guys! It is cool that this issue is so important to you all than to me and that so many of you think in the same way than I do. Hopefully, this happening will not affect our success on the basketball court!
